Born in 1973, in the family of the art collector in Lviv (Leopol) in Ukraine, Misha Sydorenko lives and works in Boulogne-Billancourt. He graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Lviv in 1999. The artist also studied at Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial and the Philadelphia Sketch club in 1994 in the United States.
From 2008-2010, Misha Sydorenko lived in Los Angeles and Philadelphia and painted many landscapes. He is a painter of genre scenes, nudes and contemporary landscapes. His work is represented in private collections in France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the United States, Great Britain, Holland, Australia, China, Ukraine and Russia, as well as in art collections such as: The Salle Art Museum (Philadelphia, United States), the Norwell Reece Collection (United States), Ukrainian Museum in New York (United States), the National Museum of Lviv, the National Art Gallery Lviv (Ukraine) etc.
He is also a member of the Taylor Foundation.
"I like to observe. If there is something that attracts my attention, that inspires me, it makes me want to create. My painting begins with an idea. I rarely paint directly in front of the object. A painting must grow inside me. Then, in my studio, my work takes shape. I always start with sketches and then lay the foundation. I like working with the equipment.
I have a penchant for oil painting as it contains all necessary qualities to express my feelings. I like to accentuate my canvases with pronounced impasto, playing with the reliefs and using thin layers of paint. My favourite tools are the palette knife, brushes, fingers and anything else I have at hand. I take part in the mystery as I proceed into the unknown.
I express my feelings. I create...The atmosphere, mood and emotion play an important role in my paintings. My paintings are like poetry. I often touch up my paintings. I hang them on the wall and look at them for a while. Then I start working again until I am satisfied with the result." - Misha Sydorenko
