After learning to draw and paint at the Beaux-Arts in Rouen (France) I set up my own business. During this period, I did various graphic design, illustration and theatre sets. I was then hired by the Ministry of Public Works to visualize the major work projects, most often it was to paint on a photograph of the current state of the landscape, its state after completion. We were doing manually what 3D drawing software does today. My interest in these projects gave rise to a desire to better understand their logic and the development policy in which they were part. At that time I started new studies in geography. After graduating from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris) and obtaining a DEA (Master's degree) in biogeography at the Sorbonne, I worked as a freelancer again, dividing my time between planning studies, drawing and painting. Geography has renewed the way I look at the landscape, but this dual activity is sometimes difficult to manage and, as the years go by, I spend more and more time drawing and painting.
