Born in 1960 in Paris from a double culture: South America and France, my eye was formed through readings, artistic encounters of photographers, painters, musicians.
Self-taught, my work is developed intuitively without a specific representation idea. I let myself be guided by the material without ignoring that the plastic arts and current events have nourished my sensitivity.
Between poetry and engagement, between painting and photography. I play metamorphoses, bring back life at a stopped moment to free it from representation by the movement of matter. The subjects? They sometimes answer the questions of the moment and the upheavals; displacement of populations, climates, revolutions, erasures...
The documentary photography that emerges in the intertwining of the painting is there to put the context in relation to the subject.
I work in successive layers, accumulation, shrinkage, mixing flexible or rigid, shiny or matt supports, operating combinations of materials sometimes improbable, which eventually find an agreement. The materials: ink, paper, slate, writing, painting, worked like fragments, are the raw material that the gesture will structure. Transparency, black and grey values, colour, recompose spaces. These materials, which have been worked on for a long time, reconstruct images that are more an evocation of reality, of the sensitive.
Photography has been with me for a long time in my artistic life. It is sometimes present as an element of information and contextualization in the composition of some tables.
