Sylvie Julkowski-Egard works in series, drawing inspiration from her very immediate environment. The artist reveals to us the beautiful architecture of Paris, rich still lifes and his daughter who is none other than his almost exclusive model.

An Observation of Mankind

Sylvie Julkowski-Egard creates from her personal experience and the human behaviors she observes. She stages particular themes such as breakups, rivalries and infidelity. Her work is made up of visible keys to interpretation using different symbols. Inspired by her own life, her genre scenes use her favorite role model - her 26-year-old daughter.

She also enjoys painting characters, simply for the atmosphere they bring. Her Little Girls series is a prime example.

The Medium as a Vestige of Passing Time

Sylvie Julkowski-Egard has a definite interest in the industrial world wherein she transposes the art of portraiture to objects which have known their heyday and are on the verge of being forgotten. Thus, it is developing a whole series on transport vehicles by materializing the effects of time through rust and decay.

Sublimating Genre Paintings

It is in her series of still lifes that she will also transpose the art of portraiture to understand the poetic dimension of the banality of everyday life. Her paintings, in our eyes, bring out the humble truth of everyday life, a theme dear to the painter.

Finally, urban landscapes, whether teeming with life or not, are important subjects of interest that make up her universe and are part of her sources of inspiration.
