"A few steps from my house, the stream of Vers flows into the Lot. In summer, the place is very popular with bathers; the water is refreshing without being too cold and the bottom of the stream is sandy. There is a lot of activity and from time to time children come to watch what I am doing. The little girl in blue is Azelia who wanted to be in her grandfather's painting."

Jeffery Stride has been a professional painter since leaving the Beaux in Camberwell, London in 1969. He was born in Southampton, England in 1946. With his wife, Sally, they came to live in the Lot, France in 1971.

He paints daily, most often on the motif, except for his large canvases which are made in the workshop from his pastels made on site. His favorite motif is the river flowing at the end of his garden and the landscapes of the Lot Valley.
