This painting from the series "Akribeia" was made during the period of the very beginning of the confinement in June July 2020. This canvas is painted, line after line, with oil paint, with brush n.4.
The work was made in the questioning, the slowness of a spirit and a body which put back to the task in a slowness imposed by the context: a return to the color, to harmonic research adjoining a complex technical process.
Like the writing of paragraphs, each progressive color harmony has been meticulously painted: the lines follow one another and progressively change hue, each passage occurs after several days of waiting and fallowing; unlike the monochrome work of the previous period entitled Now is gone. These painted lines touch each other in certain places leaving intervals of white lines. Simple reserves of the white background, these alternations of fine open-worked lines create motifs in a rhythmic fluidity. The artist follows the slow rhythm that his breathing inspires him, trusting his instinct and the need to do.
The name Akribeia comes from the ancient Greek and means "accuracy, meticulous care". The sound of the word resonates, or rather reasons, as something settled, precise and determined. The common word acribia means "who works with the most meticulous care". Sometimes it is necessary to put oneself in danger in order to change that which settles us in stagnation.
After a long work on form, surface and time, his approach as a colorist painter spontaneously resurfaces. This painting follows the monochrome series in progress "Indigo".
