Estuaire 002 is a painting born in the port of Saint-Nazaire. The containers and the submarine base are merged with the ocean; this proximity defines the color of the ocean itself. I worked with the batik technique, an ancestral process dedicated to textile printing which means "written with wax". This allows me to paint with reserves of white. I work with watercolor on handmade Japanese paper. The work is sold with its white American frame and its certificate of authenticity.

A textile designer by trade, Camille Tardif has recently embarked on a multidisciplinary creative approach, the very essence of which is to bring together techniques that are refractory to one another in order to create something new. Taking things in the wrong direction is an essential value of her work.

With seven years of graduate studies in design, the artist quickly felt trapped by having learned too much. Inevitably, she repeats what she has been taught. The whole point of her approach today is to succeed in bringing her technique and her instinct into dialogue, to find a balance between logic and letting go.

Repetition is an obsessive principle for Camille Tardif, as much for the principle as for its aesthetic character: it is therefore natural that she finds herself present in her work. It is in the detail and in the repetition of the infinitely small that she offers creations to be apprehended from afar.
