Favouring the mediums of watercolour and ink, Sylvia Baldeva creates spontaneous art that allows emotions and feelings to be seen. From dark black sketches to portraits in pastel colours, animals and landscapes, her work reveals a poetic, expressive and delicate imagination.
A life of art
Sylvia Baldeva is a multi-disciplinary artist who lives and works in France. Born in Bulgaria, she found herself immersed in the art world even as a child, thanks to her father, a renowned painter. This influence can still be seen in her work today.
Baldeva has worked for many years in a variety of different creative fields, and works as an illustrator with a diverse range of clients. Her pictorial creations are based on the concept of "Metamorphosed Memories". Sometimes clear, sometimes hazy, the subjects appear and make memories and feelings tangible. Like visual stories, they create new emotions and symbolic lives.
Pictorial freedom and poetry
In the creative process, Sylvia Baldeva reveals her subjects through a constant battle of control and letting go. Her preference for fluid techniques enables her to directly express her creative urges. Using what she calls "fluidity", she reveals a form of pictorial freedom which highlights perception and emotion.
Sylvia Baldeva's works are lyrical and take on a timeless appearance. Her work is regularly featured in private and group exhibitions. She is a Canson® Europe ambassador artist.
