Emilie Chacon has not only seized, as an experienced fabulist, the great moments that generally make up the fabric of an accomplished childhood (first love, happiness, marriage, child, schoolboy, blackboard, slate, schoolboy returning home, staircase, etc.).), but that it has also known how to reveal to us, through the staging of such moments, their part of ineffable artifice - even if the artifice, here, is no longer the one that would impose society on us from the outside (the myth), but the one that creates, for us, for our benefit, our memory, that is, the artifice of nostalgia or, to be more complimentary, the artifice of poetry

Emilie Chacon’s photographs develop a universe where childhood continues as a liberating mode of artistic expression. The doll, preferably the Barbie, sometimes accompanied by her lover Ken, ensures an imaginary quest where fantasies and desires mix. The doll is invested through skillfully crafted staging from objects diverted from their original use to explore their dreamlike and playful potential sources of unusual meanings.

In a critical spirit, devoid of naivety, but not without humour and provocation, his scenes reveal the conditioning of our society from childhood, insidiously or directly, through the learning of rules, prohibitions and preconceived ideas. The doll embodies a certain feminine ideal promoted by capitalist society with its generous shapes and eternally smiling face. Adopting the pose of a fantastical reality, she sometimes engages with Ken in erotic games in a provocative nudity. Through this doll is expressed the exploration of a universe where female identity is not subject to prejudice because, in her photographs, desire reigns over play and enchantment can prevail over appearance.

His photos are the result of a long process of miniature sets and staging. No photo editing or faking.
