Julie Peiffer

Julie Peiffer has always been a photographer. Even when she had only her eyes. It was not by chance if the first shots that she broadcast on her Facebook page were initially grouped under the title "In my eye". From her mother, Julie holds the rule, the limit, the structuring. The framework. From his father, the movement, the Hors-Champs. The overflow. It is on the side of this aesthetic, sensory, educational confrontation and their alchemy, as much as their contrast, that we must go and seek what animates, in the Latin sense of the term, the gaze of Julie. That of this child that she was and who posed him, greedily, on this world of which it was hid for a part, to protect him, which she nevertheless guessed, that she already questioned, behind these adult and closed doors, arousing all curiosities. Of withdrawal, abstraction, was born the questioning, the game between the shadow and the light, this primal vocabulary of photography, which it will nourish later by "frequenting" the work of Man Ray, of Eugène Atget or André Kertész, among many others. The gaze of the one who today reads our urbanity, our HIC and NUNC, notes the question points, exposes the rhythm, the punctuation, "the between the lines". The gaze of those who manage to reveal the evidence, finally exposed, invisible that it was in the eyes of passers -by too in a hurry of our own lives, in the heart of our insomniac cities, at the heart of our lives, our bodies, those in Become or those washed by too many rains and thunderstorms.
