A bird is scanning the Dhaulagiri from Muktinath in Nepal in 2009. Dhaulagiri is the seventh highest peak in the world, in the Himalayan range. The highest mountain entirely in Nepal, it is located in the central east of the country. Dhaulagiri comes from the Sanskrit words "Dhavali giri" meaning "White Mountain". After its discovery by Europeans in 1808, it was considered for 30 years as the highest peak in the world. The name Dhaulagiri also refers to five satellite peaks at the highest point (8,167 metres), ranging from 7,268 metres for Dhaulagiri VI to 7,751 metres for Dhaulagiri II. A very isolated mountain range, the Dhaulagiri was flown over and photographed in 1949 by geologist Arnold Heim, while Nepal was forbidden to Europeans.

Stanislas Ledoux was born in Nantes in 1985 and very quickly had his eye in the right place. In 2006, he was selected for a group exhibition at the Musée d’Aquitaine and continued his studies in communication and advertising strategy in Bordeaux before obtaining his diploma in 2008. The following year, Studio Blain in Rochefort offered him his first solo exhibition, but it was in 2011 that he decided to make photography his profession, while continuing to develop his photographic writing. In 2014, he completed a professional training at the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles.

He is now based in Bordeaux where he offers his photography services in the fields of Architecture, Professional Portrait and Reproduction of Works of Art. At the same time, influenced by photographers Hiroshi Sugimoto, Vee Speers, Ansel Adams, Erwin Olaf, Maurice Tabard, he continued his personal work.

"I am sensitive to light of course but also to weak times, to dreamlike touches. I try to reveal the part of the sacred that resides in the places or people in my photographs. I usually work in the form of photographic series. The latter group together a corpus of images that have undergone the same influences, related to the same intentions. "
