From Zatié to Zatie’s Art, this is her story Of the colours and materials that run through a canvas. A painted model revealed through a photo. Created and personalized patterns that are created on the textile. This is Zatié’s trademark, his real name Gilles Koné. At the dawn of his 30th birthday, Gilles returns to his first love by devoting his free time to painting. Initially to satisfy a desire, it quickly becomes a need. Creating, building, imagining, exploring are her new hobbies. His first project was born by looking at the corner of a wall. Why not make paintings that would adorn the corners, why settle for the walls? He then creates a range of small paintings, shows them, offers them and then sells them. He now wants to paint big, to give free rein to his creativity, to explore all the techniques. Mixing acrylic and materials, he then created different collections and exhibited them: Hurricanes, Eruption, Masks of Africa, Eclosion, Kanaga’s life,... He spends his free time there but also part of his nights now. The artistic part grows in him, takes up space and imposes itself on him, naturally. Passionate, he quickly turned to photography. What could be better than immortalizing what he sees, what he feels, at any moment. He can now create and keep the image he sees at a moment’s notice. Almost obviously, Body painting appears as a logical continuation. He began to paint his motifs on bodies and then took pictures of them. It is her creativity and interaction with models that make this new project evolve and lead her to paint top models, dancers, painters, men and women. Painting on canvases, painting on bodies, he didn’t want to stop there. He immediately thinks of painting on textiles. Being able to paint your designs and use your imagination on t-shirts, dresses, jackets or shoes is the new challenge. He then chose his Kiss motif (from the canvas called Kiss) and decided to paint it on demand. He also offers his clients the opportunity to customize their clothes, according to his wishes or according to their needs. Each product is then unique, since they are hand painted by Gilles. Textile paint and hot-press finishing allow articles to be washed and ironed in the usual way. In the first half of 2015, Gilles decided to leave his professional activity to devote his life to Art, and began the process of making his activity known and recognized. The painting on canvas is signed Zatié, the photography Zatie’s Photo and the painting on textile Zatie’s Art. The launch of his clothing range will be his first project. The Kiss pattern is chosen for the first collection. It is silkscreened by a French company on organic cotton t-shirts, tank tops and polo shirts. Gilles wants each item to remain unique, and then personalizes the products by adding a touch of hand painting. But who is really Gilles A. Kone? Born in Bamako, he grew up in a family of 5 children, where everyone can express themselves through sport or art. Already curious as a child, when his classmates asked for toys for little boys, he asked his mother for paint (gouache), plaster and clay. After graduating from high school in France at the age of 17, he focused on studies and obtained his doctorate in microelectronics in 2011. Already a lover of dance and music in Mali, he confirmed his taste for hip-hop and dancehall when he arrived in Bordeaux. He later became a teacher of Kizomba, and a student of African Dances. During his various professional experiences in microelectronics, science education, computer science and logistics management in an SME, art joined him and caught up with him.
