"Since my childhood, I have always loved butterflies. Their beauty, their fragility are all subjects of admiration and joy to see them twirl in the air, in our gardens and green spaces. I am also interested in biodiversity. And the butterflies at the heart of this biodiversity are at risk, confronted with environmental disturbances with strong urbanization, pesticides and global warming. Will we be able to protect them and preserve them from all these environmental evils? Their health depends on our ecosystem. It is up to us to realize that they are victims, that their survival is threatened. As a photographer, I wanted to represent them, damaged by our pollution, hence the mourning butterflies, black or white, stylized, who try, in the midst of our meadows and flowers, to live their life as butterflies." - Marie-Fa Lazzari
