Rodolphe Martinez
France
Emerging artist
  • KAZoART artist since 2020
  • 74 works

Rodolphe Martinez’s body of work oscillates between photography, painting, video editing and graphic design. His work is more of a hybrid approach that combines both traditional and digital techniques.

His main objective: to question the relationship between painting and photography

Born in Bordeaux in 1969, Rodolphe Martinez works as a presenter

at Radio France and has been pursuing a career in the fine arts since 2015. working as a fine artist for over 10 years.

The artist produces a multi-faceted work through several mediums, such as photography, painting, design, video. A true hybrid production where digital and traditional techniques, such as painting, drawing, sculpture, engraving or collage, cross paths.

Rodolphe Martinez explores the ambiguity of the gaze and questions the equivocal relationship between painting and photography.

The Bordeaux native’s various projects and collaborations

Artist from Bordeaux, Rodolphe Martinez is hugely invested in the artistic and cultural scene of his native city.

He is also responsible for exhibitions in public spaces such as the monumental tattooing of a tramway train in Bordeaux in 2015 (40 female faces).

He is also responsible for creating other iconic paintings.

The artist has also explored more sacred and religious subject matters, like an exhibition on the crucifixion in the Cathedral of St. Andre in Bordeaux, with the help of Bernard Magrez in 2012. A collaboration renewed in 2018 with a monographic exhibition on Venice at the Bernard Magrez Cultural Institute!

In 2016, in honor of the 120th anniversary of France's largest independent bookstore, Mollat, Rodolphe Martinez created 120 unique, hand-painted bags.

In addition, Rodolphe Martinez received a commission for the altar of St. Peter's Church in Bordeaux.

Rodolphe Martinez also created the trophy of the patrons of La Cité du Vin in Bordeaux!

Finally, it is important to mention his publication of a series on Summer in the Sud-Ouest Magazine during two months in 2016: this series could be seen on display on the gates of the Parc Bordelais de Caudéran during the summer of 2018.
