Igor Bitman, painter (known as Igor B. Glik, as a photographer). Born in Moscow in 1953, I studied at the School of Fine Arts in Moscow. I fled the Soviet Union in 1980. After living in Italy and Canada, I settled permanently in France in 1987. I regularly exhibit in art galleries in France, Italy and the Netherlands. Numerous personal exhibitions. Photography had always been with me, from the very beginning of my career as a painter. It was often used as a sketchbook, thus playing an important role in the elaboration of my paintings. But for the past three to four years, encouraged by a few well-known photographers, I have allowed myself to free my photographic work from my work as a painter. I would say today that photography, which I now practice professionally, has become the natural continuity of my work on the image with different means.
