In 2014, Jérémy Magniez began a series of drawings in which this work marks a new stage: symmetry is more assumed, references are more direct (M.C. Escher, H.R. Giger) and a symbolic and analogical vocabulary is used to develop anamorphoses repeating the figure of the animal-title, figure of disappearance. In this drawing, he sought to question the impact of the incarnation on perception and form (gestalt) at a time when, we are told, intelligence and art itself are taking flight outside of humans.

Magniez was born in Paris and still lives there today.

As a painter and an artist he has been drawing with Chinese ink since 2016. His images are embodiments of dystopian planets where man is nothing more than a mechanical presence fighting for its existence against the vegetal world. He is trapped in vain prospects and  limited to enclosed universes or bound to endless repetitions.

The M Theory: Magniez imagined the “M Theory” while listening to the physician and mathematician Edward Witten. The thought of man grasping the physical universe through eleven dimensions, the idea that infinities are multiple and the possibility that they contain many other infinities triggered the artist’s creativity and gave birth to his drawings.

"M Theory” exists despite our ignorance of its consequences. Its complete formalization is beyond mathematical tools. Scientists are working through concepts which challenge their own understanding. For Magniez, joining this indescribable field with artistic revelation is the ultimate way of making sense of it all.
