Sébastien Grenier

The relationship to nature has been at the center of artistic work in Sébastien Grenier for over fifteen years. His research leads him to apprehend raw nature as a form of embodied, plural truth, a set of forces. Experience the landscape, elements that constitute it, is preponderant and is part of an initiatory journey. The whole of his work is characterized by a certain attraction for the origins, the primitive, but also reflects the impermanence of things, their constant changes, the mysterious organization of chaos. It thus testifies to a desire to return nature to our sight, our memory, this memory both intimate and collective, which founds and connects us.
His recent work also raises the question of our relationship to the environment while referring to ancient or very current mythologies at the age of the anthropocene.

Using painting, photography, mixed techniques, digital experiments, collages, Sébastien Grenier has developed a singular writing. His work is also divided between immersions at the heart of nature and formatting in the workshop or the dark room.
After more than forty years spent in big cities, Paris, Nantes, Bordeaux, he opened his workshop in 2013 in the small village of St Antonin Noble Val in the heart of the Gorges de l'Aveyron.
