Rong GUO's creations use chisel and intaglio as well as drawing. These techniques, appreciated by the artist, require patience and precision.

These works raise the issue of environmental change in China, his country of origin, which over the years has seen industrialization and pollution gain ground. In her work, Rong puts forward an idea she strongly believes in: that of universal harmony. An idea that nature, animals and human beings would live in perfect balance. Thus the faces, which usually represent an identity, are juxtaposed with all other living or industrial elements. Thus, his achievements do not resonate as a lesson or a warning. In a balanced and aesthetic atmosphere, they bring us back to reality so that we can reflect on the question of "living together".

Emerging artist
  • KAZoART artist since 2020

Rong Guo was born in Shanghai in 1979. She completed her undergraduate studies in visual communication in 2001 at the University of Shanghai. Wishing to perfect her technique in engraving as well as in painting, she arrived in France in 2003 and enrolled at the School of Fine Arts in Versailles. For 5 years, she specialized in engraving and graduated in 2009, with honors. Since then, she has been working at the workshop Contrepoint, located in Paris. Today, she works in her own engraving studio in the 13th arrondissement, where she handles color as well as black and white, with burin and intaglio. Her works tend to divert the daily life in a humorous way and thus allow to take distance from small events often felt as dramatic.
