"I wanted to approach my favourite subjects, portraits/landscapes/ still lifes with a different technique than those used until now. My interest in the expressionist movement Die Brücke and their engraved works (as well as those of Félix Vallotton) led me to use linocut. In addition, and since I absolutely did not want uniform ink flat tints, I do not use a press but the technique known as the spoon technique so that a certain texture appears. So, even if the plates are used for several prints, each one is "unique"." - Gilles Konop
