Hervé Tonglet

"You are here to learn to embellish life, never desecrate your art". These words said formerly by his master Elie Badré, told him the way to follow: it would be that of art, a permanent search for beauty through forms, matter and light.
Hervé Tonglet began his artistic career on Place du Tertre in Paris where he was noticed to exhibit with Salvador Dali in Nice in 1973. In 1989, Belgium awarded him the Grand Prix of European Prestige for the whole of his work. He defines himself today, after more than 50 years of career, as an "art worker".
In his workshop in Laifour (Ardennes) located on the edge of the Meuse, he gives and life for material: earth, marble, wood, bronze, steel and blue stone. His favorite subjects are mythology, religion, the arts, body and soul, love, man.
It purifies as much as possible the forms of its subjects by means of an angular style, happy conclusion of several years of research: finally materializing the line dear to architecture thus creating these lines giving more force to the idea. The light is trapped in real cages formed by the angles, forced to comply with the requirements of the creator.
