Lost wax bronze. Published in a limited numbered edition. This sculpture is an ode to conjugal love. Here is the poem that inspired me: To all the adventurers of marriage As birds fly and turn, For better or for worse, Let us try in the air this long desire, To make, alert, sing the time, To make, together, live the years, As a sigh, As a beautiful song... Through her mastery of the lost-wax casting technique, Sophie Barut creates bronze sculptures which materialize all of the themes she holds most dear. Her works, which touch on fragility, vital force and the delicate nature of life allow her to converge towards a form of rebirth.

Works at the very heart of her intimacy

Sophie Barut lives and works in Caluire, in the Rhône region of France. She produces her bronze creations in partnership with the Adobati foundry.

Fragility, disability, childhood, the delicate balance of the life, the vital force hidden within all of us, the beauty of a face, the candour of a posture, friendship and love are just a few of the striking themes that stand out in her work.

In 2018, she published a memoir "Je rentrerai avant la nuit" (I'll be home before dark), in which she incorporates pages from her diary written 20 years prior, depicting what happened when her husband was involved in a devastating bicycle accident, just a few months after their marriage, which would permanently confine him to a wheelchair.
