Ybah is a French sculptor. Arriving in Paris at the age of 6 in 1956, his vocation as an artist was expressed in the midst of a family undergoing reconstruction thanks to the influence of a woodcarver grandfather. From 1976 to 1981, as a young adult, she became involved in fashion and clothing design. She is passionate about drawing which connects her to the body and to beings in a profound way. In 1991 she created rag dolls which were very successful.
His thirst for discovery and his greed for culture are expressed through many trips. In 1994 she fell under the spell of the picturesque streets of Prague and produced her first painted picture. But it is in Rome, in front of Michelangelo's Pieta that his desire to sculpt is revealed. The Sculpture of the Master will be his way, that of expressing the feelings of life!
From 1993 to 2008 she acquired different techniques (modeling, drawings, engraving, painting, direct carving, patinas, lost and silicone hollow moldings, resin prints). From 2009 to 2012 she joined the National School of Applied Art Duperré in Paris, then in 2013 she trained at the Lycée Languier in Eu to acquire foundry techniques. In 2012 I am exposed to the eyes of collectors and art lovers.
"A certain look at the world around me capsizes me. I can't hold back my empathy. Do I have to? My eye scans, seated at a cafe terrace, or lost in the crowd, standing on the platform of a Station or sitting in the metro: it is a real spectacle that is offered to me. Our eyes, our body speak. No need for words, an attentive and benevolent eye is enough.
Searching the Soul to better capture the Truth, that is my goal. It is in Difference that the Unique Being is born that we are. The paths of Life define us, the residual layers of previous generations, combined with the present, knead the Unique Beings that we are.
The fatal evidence of our metamorphoses is a source of truth, "A Hymn to Life"
Without concessions, I transcribe what I deeply perceive, while remaining true to the anatomy. Favoring the fragility of aging bodies by revealing excess flesh, fullness of the breasts, the depth of wrinkles or muscle tension, are all signs that bear witness to the history of a body that has weathered the storms of life. Undeniably the scars of time are inscribed in our flesh and in our eyes.
A corner of the lip, a distant gaze, strong and expressive hands, everything interests me in bodies and faces. The smallest "flaws" are a quality, generous curves, joy, sadness, regrets, expression lines, youth, are all criteria of Beauty, Authenticity, and Sensuality which nourish my artistic expression. .
Beyond Me, there is You… the model, our history and our Lived!
My revelation was in front of "La Pietà" by Michelangelo, impossible to hold back my tears of emotion: Making matter vibrate has become Vital. Sculpting is obvious.
In contact with clay, I enter into a double Sensory experience, apparently contradictory but yet so coherent, so obvious. Slowly, a subtle play takes place between matter and the intangible, weight and lightness, density and evanescence.
This is how the Earth, under my hands, gives birth to forms that have come out of the imagination or nourished by my captive gaze of the model. And there, the volumes, curves and counter curves spring up instinctively, given birth by a flood of pregnant emotions.
Ultimate desire: to give soul and life to all matter. It's a real melee!
And, it is in this perpetual quest for Life, for the True, for the Beautiful, that I draw my inspiration and that my regrets turn into new challenges.
Thank you Earth! Thank you Universe! Thank you life!"
