This sculpture is made of bronze covered with two layers of 24-carat gold by the electrolysis technique.

"It is entitled BANYULS because it was inspired by the work of Aristide MAILLOL, a native of the village, in this seaside resort in the Pyrenees Orientales. It represents a bather, sitting on the beach, stretching under the Mediterranean sun and, by her nudity, giving to see generous cheeses like the creatures and female nudes of Maillol. I chose to adorn her with gold to recall the warmth of the Mediterranean sun and make her a precious object." Marie Ange Pol

Since her first steps in sculpture, Marie Ange Pol has sculpted wood and marble to extract roundness, voluptuous forms that tell the story of people, life, dreams... No need for details, the line is pure; without detours or artifice, it is the attitudes and the material that speak. Also her women are round, sensual and especially generous by the softness and the plenitude which they release.

Always in this same research, she then approached the theme that she calls "the recreational" where she walks in the playful world of childhood. With a more humorous look, sometimes more caustic, through the exaggeration of a detail or a situation. She presents, among other things, cherubs with round bellies and bouncy buttocks, climbing improbable obstacles, little girls and boys who take a bite out of life and look at the world from the height of their carefree spirit.

Following this human exploration, she also became interested in plants, inspired by nature, which is her daily environment, and its different stages of evolution. When she sculpts a fruit, a seed, a pod, there again it is a question of underlining the purity of its line, the harmony of its curves, while respecting the sobriety or the complexity of its form. Only the size changes and sometimes the patina, which gives her subjects a new visibility and makes the public wonder about their own environment and their knowledge of it.
