Yvan Mercier, aka Meyv, is a skilled metalwork sculptor. Captivated by volumes and metalwork, he combines sculpture and forging in his productions.
A passionate, self-taught artist
Meyv's sculptural vision is inspired by Ancient Greece’s heritage of figurative sculpture. His metalwork draws on over 15 years of experience, in particular his knowledge of 1920s Art Deco styles.
Meyv constantly studies volume in the art of sculpture and metal science. He recently succeeded in recreating the technique for gold's molecular migration in an alloy, a procedure previously used by the Incas.
Art meets craftsmanship
A passionate metalwork sculptor, Meyv expresses himself in everyday life by shaping steel, copper, bronze, silver and gold. Through an artisanal approach, he combines sculpture and metalwork to bring his imagination to life.
His research has led him to forge various metals and even to work with clay. Using his fingertips or a hammer and anvil, he manipulates and moves his materials to give them their shape.
