Catherine Savigny’s sculptures are characterized by their small formats. The dimensions of the works are on the scale of his hands, in order to create an intimacy with the earth and also to invite the visitor to share this intimacy.
"My works all have (except one) the same title "construction". It is my way of raising the earth, volumes by volumes and then relating them to their shadows. The unique title is also a way to give free rein to the visitor’s interpretation.
I often take inspiration from the city, architecture, buildings and the shadows cast on the facades, even if sometimes I think I leave a human, physical element in my works. I work the land simply, even in a primitive way. I then call on the Susse foundry because I want to keep the traditional, historical side of bronze: noble, solid and timeless material."
