Attracted since his childhood by drawing and after having followed courses at the Beaux-arts d’Angers, the painter Stéphane Jouet explored for several years the various universes of painting and graphic design. From watercolour to ink drawing, oil and acrylic, he started with figurative painting and has been devoting himself for several years to abstract art.
Influenced by Gerhard Richter’s work on materials, the colours of Andy Warhol and Voka; passionate about architecture and contemporary design, he escapes into the freedom of colours and materials, shaping a free and radiant inspiration. Light colour and material colour provide a strong expressiveness to abstract compositions, featuring both a rich contrast of light and colour.
He received the Fernand Dupré Prize from the City of Cholet in 2017.
