The liquid metal is left free to flow without the constraint of an impression to be filled. It cascades and, cooling, its tumult freezes in the fall. The solid keeps the mark of a fluctuating, uncertain, voluble past. He seems to only want to prolong his course towards rest, the puddle, a smooth layer of fluid relieved of its primitive energy... but remains in suspense. The bed of this cataract torn from time seems to be levitating. Maybe he hopes to escape the mass that drowns him. Its regular geometry contrasts with the chaos of the flow. The resulting confusing impression would evoke the fantastic landscape of a deliquescent Atlantis abandoned to the seaweed. Thus poured on a glazed metal mass, the molten aluminium creates shapes channelled by the hand of the casting artist. The flows overlap, intertwine and fall, run down and drip from their substrate, in spikes, balls, smooth, wrinkled, metal emancipated from the artifice. It’s the wild flow.
Sauvage casting-4 consists of a large cylindrical mass of steel that is submerged by a stream of aluminum while keeping it in suspension.
