Sculpture representing a male torso in steel lace with a chrome part.

"I emphasize the shapes of the male body by creating a metal lace by dripping steel into a sand mold. The sculpture is aerial, it plays with light. To reinforce this play of light, I chromed a part of the body, giving an effect of shadow and light." - Philippe Buil

This small sculpture is easily placed on a desk or chest of drawers. The sculpture is varnished to preserve these colours. It is fixed on its base in steel drops. It is signed on the back. Unique piece, accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.

Depending on what has inspired him, Philippe Buil creates metal sculptures and brings the work to life with additional materials like leather, 24-karat gold leaf, glass and wood. He most frequently creates busts but also works with animals and other subjects when the mood or desire takes him.

Intricate metalwork

Born in 1964, Philippe Buil began his career in the metals industry but soon decided to combine his three major passions in life: metal, sculpture and invention.

Modelling, designing and creating life

After several months of research, he developed a unique technique which he uses to create sculptures from a metal lace. His two materials of choice are bronze and steel. The lace is created by melting the metal drop by drop, guaranteeing that every piece is unique.
