In this time of the Covid pandemic, many of us had to take a break and stay home. The work "Coffee Break" is made from coffee filters ... at the same time witnessing the passage of time, coffee represents this little moment alone or conversely a shared and friendly time ... Paper, a noble but often neglected material, also speaks of the creativity that each one carries within, to look at our life in a different way, and what we "normally" consume without paying more attention to it.

A professional visual artist, Elysabeth Folliet also practices as an art therapist and photographer.

Painting was for her an encounter with matter where language has no place yet, so these words by Bram Van Velde accurately express her relationship to painting:

"Painting is about looking for the face of what has no face."

Each of his paintings is an apparition, which often also testifies to the disappearance through successive layers of paintings forgotten in a "below"...

His recent work is a series of "apparitions". Faces, characters or landscapes appear in a work of superimposed layers and it is by removing from the material that the "appearance" is born. In short, it is by disappearance that the appearance occurs.

This technique, which is unique to him, is a work on fragility:

"I like to remove material to find the lower layers and the play of colours. I work on very thin layers of paint and not on the mass. At each step I must agree to let go of what has presented itself so that another form can be born, appear and disappear in turn, being both in the origin and the detachment of the previous image. »

Today different materials such as paper and wire are used in his artistic approach.
